ChatRoulette Type Website Sells for $ 200,000 Breaking a Record While Chatroulette.com Remains Closed

On Sunday the creator of Chatroulette mysteriously shut down his website and left a cryptic message telling users the site will be back shortly. It’s been a long 3 days with Chatroulette still down and the industry shaken up, many sites have seen growth more than triple in the last 72 hours. To coincide with this shake up Meetrandom.com announced today that they have sold their domain name and website for $ 200,000 setting a record for the industry.
MeetRandom.com ranks different Chatroulette type sites based on traffic and popularity. According to Allen Fox of Meetrandom.com “the whole marketplace has been shaken up and the landscape has changed literally overnight creating a huge opportunity for the underdog.”
Details of the sale have not been disclosed except for the sale price due to confidentiality agreements in place between the buyer and seller. It will be interesting to see what else will transpire in the coming days with Chatroulette’s absence and lack of candor.
