Announcing the Church of Texas Holdem: World’s Only Online Poker Religion

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) August 11, 2006

Poker writer and advisor Ashley Cotter-Cairns struggled to get a handle on the psyche of the average online poker player before inspiration struck. “One day, I’d had a bad Texas Holdem session and went for a run to cool my head down,” he recalled.

“As I passed the various churches of our little town, it suddenly occurred to me that online poker was quite like a religion. Millions of players log on to worship the poker gods every single day and somebody ought to organize them into a group.”

Before long, the world’s first poker religion had its own website: http://www.church-of-texas-holdem.com

Father Ashley, as Cotter-Cairns calls himself, oversees a plethora of advice and entertainment on the site. “One thing I was definite about: most poker sites are as exciting as Luxembourg (possibly even less so). I wanted the Church of Texas Holdem to be very different — perhaps genuinely funny at times — while still offering rock-solid advice to players prepared to work at improving their game.”

Much of the poker advice comes direct from the Bible itself — an entire section entitled ‘Cooking the Book’ uses Biblical quotes to explain poker concepts — while other nods to more conventional religions include ‘Collection Plate’, ‘Sunday School’, ‘Local Parish’ and ‘Weekly Sermon’.

Readers of the monthly eZine, ‘PokerPrayer!’, receive free poker spreadsheets, exclusive discounts and other benefits.

The Church of Texas Holdem invites any and all online poker players into its vestry.

I also love the images you put in here. They fit so well with what youre trying to say. Im sure youll reach so many people with what youve got to say.
